Dealing with the data collected from people all over the world about the changes took place during Covid-19, we applied the wholeview framework created by André Nogueira, Ph.D, Associate Researcher and Instructor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, to design the future work system.

'See changes, sketch tomorrow'. Students will be explored to design methods and frameworks that can help individuals and organizations incorporate behavior considerations to make progress in the face of uncertainty, and will be able to identify patterns of behavior at the population level and transform them into opportunity spaces for creating meanful interventions.
By leanring the Whole View, a conceptual model with design frameworks and methods useful for dealing with complex ambiguous problems, we applied the model to opportunity areas emerging from data collected during 2020 and explored purpos-driven innovations that integrate considerations of economic principles, user experiences, and appropriate technology specifically in future work-life balance -- A neighborhood-based system in place to support hybrid living.
All the data they gathered are stored in Kumu. First we need to explore all data bubbles to see connections between each other, finding out the obvious and significant areas and stories. Then after having the focus topic, by doing secondary research and co-design sprints, we could narrow down the topic to a series of experiences. Finally, going through the seven frameworks in Whole View several rounds, we could make the data meaningful and have proposed future system concept for test.
We landed on the worker, government, business related topics. Based on the present stories, all these mentioned players were struggling, because Covid cut the connection between them. However, there might be some solutions to fix the current gaps. Then we unified the features of the characters in stories, defining hybrid workers, and combined with findings from secondary research. We had genric user group and our design goal: How does work fit into the future of community life, and how should this system look like to support hybrid living?
ORION is a matchmaking platform connecting hybrid workers with the right resources in their neighborhood.
ORION will help people like Kate. The real example from Kate gave us a clue of how to center the new opportunities with ORION. Of courses, we had more typical users in our scenarios.
Through the ideation process, we leveraged POEMS and 5E frameworks to explore potential solutions. Four scenarios will help illustrate the view. Also, the attached value map could show the value exchange in the scene.
Kate, 27: A math teacher adapting to remote work, worried about staying connected with her students and colleagues.
John checks in with Kate’s invitation code—just scan the barcode or enter a quick 4-digit PIN.
At 5:00 p.m., Orion sends Kate a gentle Rest Reminder, suggesting nearby restaurants and activities since she hasn’t checked out yet.
Through a government-approved Workplace Check System, Lisha’s new space must meet safety and health standards before joining Orion.
For now, we have connected three players in the system, making the values exchanged through each one. The Governments want to provide better living place fro residents and help local small business The local small business want to get enough support to develop, and provide high-quality service for people. The local residents want to help each other and wish to have a better choice to balance work-life.
